Principal's Message

Law, a social engineer, and the fundamental agent of social ordering, rebalances competing interests and builds up a well-organized society by protecting maximum wants with minimum friction. Lawyers play a vital role in this process as legislator, judge, advocate etc. However, the theory of this role-play is dynamic and vary according to societies and time.  However, it is an undisputed fact that they could play significant roles in society as decision-maker, advisor, advocate, friend, investigator, a medium of meaningful democratic participation, and an instrument of dispute resolution. Once legal education was approached from the perspective of what a law graduate “need to know.”  Such curriculum planning often led to accumulation of knowledge. However, globalisation has made radical changes in every field including legal profession. Now we realise that doctrinal education alone does not equip students with necessary generic skills to perform effectively in the modern workplace and it is not what stakeholders want most. The present situation demand reorienting the curriculum to prepare students for the challenging and globalised work environments. We must connect knowledge with action. Mar Ivanios Law College functions on a firm belief that a modern law school must play a crucial role in the transformation and rejuvenation of the legal profession. For us holistic excellence is simply the minimum in our pursuit. To quote,

Excellence/Perfection is not a destination; it is a continuous journey that never ends.

Brian Tracy
